The base is 16 mm melamine, finished on both sides

The base is the part that holds everything you store, and almost no listing mentions it. Here it's 16 mm melamine finished on both sides: it holds suitcases, books and boxes, not just blankets and bedding.

It measures 35 cm high and leaves 28 cm of clear space inside inside: of the 35, 7 are taken up by the lid and the base. That's the figure that matters when you're storing things, not the outer measurement of the unit.

This same ottoman bed is also made in 40 cm, and that version leaves 33 cm of space: the largest in the whole range. And if what you want is a taller bed, the Mijas Alto measures 40 cm on legs and stores 28. Ask us about either one.
